Chatterbox

It seems like The Munchkin is growing and changing literally before my eyes. Every day she seems to pick up a new skill. She’s so interested in the world around her and picks up on so much so fast. She is becoming increasingly interested in all of her toys lately, doing more than simply poking them or putting them in her mouth.  She wants to figure out how they work, what they can do, and how she can use them. This morning, her toy of choice was her cell phone – a brightly colored toy phone with buttons that light up and people who talk to you when you press them.

Here is my MOMent:

We are driving home from work. The Munchkin has been fascinated with the phone all day and is still playing with it in the car on the way home.  We’ve just pulled out of the parking lot and are sitting in a stream of traffic when she presses a button that results in a character saying “Hellooo!” And just like that, in reply, The Munchkin says, “…Lo!” She is talking on the phone! I can’t help but beam with pride at my little genius. I’m half-tempted to pull off somewhere just so I can actually see her playing with her phone. Alas, we’re already on the freeway and there isn’t an opportunity. And then she says, “…lo? Dada?” When there is no reply she changes her tone. “Dada…DaDA!”The phone makes another noise and she starts chattering her baby gibberish to it. I could almost swear she is talking about the fun day she had with her grandma today.

I can’t wait to tell The Hubs about her conversation with him when he gets home from work. My guess is though, she’ll beat me to it.
